A contemporary terrace fitting a modern house
Tania works for Etex, the company that makes Cedral planks. She lives in the town of Aartselaar, quietly tucked away in the green surroundings south of Antwerp. When she wanted to add a 65 m² terrace to her modern family home, she came across the samples of Cedral Terrace in the office. She didn’t have to think long to decide that Cedral Terrace would be the perfect product for her plans.
So Tania, what convinced you to create your terrace with Cedral Terrace?
“The deep grey terrace boards had a modern look that would nicely complement the contemporary style of our house. The sleek colour of the boards perfectly matches the colour of the huge bay windows we have at the back of the house. So when we open the windows, the inside spills seamlessly over into our outside living area. It opens up our house to the garden in a stylish and practical way.”
An exquisite soft feeling of the surface of the planks
“The main reason, I fell in love with Cedral Terrace is the soft feeling of the boards. It is a bit counter-intuitive, knowing that the product is made of fibre cement, but thanks to the specially brushed surface, the planks have a super pleasant touch. It is a pleasure to walk barefoot on the terrace, and also the kids don’t need to wear shoes when playing on the terrace. And it is safe, because fibre cement doesn’t splinter and it doesn’t get slippery when wet.”
Possible to install yourself
“I didn’t know all that much about Cedral Terrace before, but I heard from colleagues that it was easy to install. So I decide to roll up my sleeves and install the terrace myself, together with my husband. The planks are easy to cut to size, and thanks to the clip system, the installation goes pretty quick. We actually had more work with the preparation of the underground than with fixing the planks. I am so proud of the final result.”
