"When Steffi Woodhatch and her husband bought a 2-bedroom 1960s bungalow in Cornwall, they described the experience as “like walking into a time warp. It had all its original features, including the kitchen, built in wardrobes with gloss paint and the original 1960’s carpets and curtains”.

They had a vision to turn the seaside property into a 4-bedroom family home – “our forever home” says Steffi, “with sea views and clean modern lines”.

Taking the advice of their architect, they went big with their plans, removing the roof, raising the ridge and adding a large kitchen dining extension at the back. Planning permission was approved without any stipulations, and they started work on the renovation, which has taken them just over five years to complete.

Cedral facades was chosen for its crisp clean look and its resilient, long-lasting qualities. “I genuinely think the cladding doesn’t look any different today than it did on installation five years ago,” says Steffi. “We’re sea facing and we get a lot of gales and mists, there’s lots of salt in the air, so it really has its work cut out but it hasn’t aged in any way since installation.”

The couple choose Cedral Lap cladding to in colour C05 Platinum Grey for a smart contemporary look, matched with crisp white render and UVPC windows in anthracite grey. As their builder had used Cedral products on previous construction projects, they found the whole process to be very quick and easy – “that was a bonus” says Steffi.
