How to give a jaded exterior an easy makeover

When it comes to updating your home, you’ll want to invest wisely. It’s important to choose materials that will not only look good and give your home a new lease of life – but will also last for a very long time.

Cedral facades are manufactured to withstand nature’s toughest conditions and have a minimum life expectancy of 50 years, with very low maintenance requirements. It all means that you get the best from your brand-new design for longer.

Using Cedral Click in Slate Grey to update a tired 1970s home

Roger Mills and his family moved into a 5-bedroom South Yorkshire home in 1988 and, while they loved the house, they were disappointed with its external appearance which was dated and run down.

Smooth-finish Cedral Click in contemporary Slate Grey gave the tired looking house a new lease of life, so much so that it is now mistaken for a new build. And the renovation passed its planning application with flying colours – even though the building was in a conservation area – as Cedral cladding was an accepted material for the job.

Since the makeover, the value of the Mills home has increased more than the cost of the work, making it extremely cost -effective.

“The project was a big success, and I would definitely recommend Cedral to anybody experiencing the same issues we did. The material is very high quality, and the house looks significantly more attractive and modern,” says Roger.

Cedral Lap cladding turned a 200-year-old Welsh barn into a contemporary rural lodge

A dilapidated Welsh barn was transformed into an 8-bedroom shooting lodge and holiday home in just nine weeks using Cedral cladding. Now the stylish building can cater for up to 20 guests in its very comfortable surroundings.

The project involved joining three separate buildings together and Cedral Lap in C05 Grey was chosen for the job because of its low maintenance properties and traditional aesthetic, blending beautifully with the surrounding Welsh landscape.

“We specified Cedral Lap fibre cement boards due to their significant durability, as we wanted to use materials that would protect such an old building whilst being visually sensitive to the landscape,” says Mark Aveyard, whose company Neath Dry Lining carried out the work.

“The grey colour scheme perfectly reflects the rural feel of the landscape, overlooking the mountains. The boards were installed in a traditional clapper board effect to create an aesthetic that represents the traditional previous building and the new, modern building.”

Replacing old timber with Cedral Select to create a more cost effective, attractive building

The Wheeler family decided to replace the timber weatherboard on their West Malling home to save money and time.

The original timber on the property required a high level of ongoing maintenance and repainting, which was both costly and time consuming. Cedral Select in White C02 was chosen for its aesthetic appeal and low maintenance qualities.

Manufactured from high performing fibre cement to withstand nature’s harshest conditions, Cedral facades have a minimum life expectancy of 50 years and don’t rot, rust, warp or crack.

Homeowner Len Wheeler says: “Cedral looks absolutely stunning and it was superbly fitted by Cedral Select Recognised Installers, Palm Building. We feel as though we have had the best product fitted by the best installers.”
