Fibre-cement slates a durable solution for any roof

Are you renovating your roof, or are you choosing a roof cover for your new house? The roof is a crucial part of your house as it protects your home and the people in it. And it should also look good of course. Whatever you choose, you want your investment to last as long as possible. In that case fibre-cement slates are your best bet. We tell you why.

Cedral durable slates

A roof solution that lasts a lifetime

Many people think of roof tiles as a robust solution for a roof. Tiles are a common roof covering, but they are not as durable as specially engineered fibre-cement slates. Cedral slates – if placed properly – have a life expectancy of more than 50 year. This guarantees that you can enjoy a quality roof for as much as a lifetime.

Moreover, Cedral gives you a manufacturer’s warranty of 30 years on its fibre-cement slates. You won’t easily find any similar warranty for other roofing solutions. That’s because fibre-cement really stands out because of its lightweight strength.

Light and strong fibre-cement slates

The advantages of fibre-cement slates

The Cedral slates are made of fibre cement. This composite material is composed of ingredients that are readily available in nature and that are low in toxicity. The main components are cement (made from limestone and clay rock), sand, air and water – mixed with fibres for extra strength.

Thanks to the clever combination of air (30% of fibre-cement slates) and fibres, fibre-cement slates are lighter and stronger than natural slates or roof tiles. They have an excellent wind and weather resistance, withstanding storms with ease. Thanks to their porous structure, they can also absorb up to a third of their weight in humidity, effectively combating condensation in your roof structure. This makes them the ideal roofing material, both for renovations and new constructions.

Also important: fibre-cement slates also have the best possible fire behaviour. Cedral slates are certified ‘A2-s1, d0’ according to the European fire-safety standards: they are non-combustible (they don’t burn) and do not generate smoke or flaming droplets when exposed to fire. With Cedral slates you add safety and peace of mind to your home.

Unlimited design possibilities

The Cedral range of fibre-cement slates consists of three different types that exist in several sizes and colours. This allows you to create any look you want. Play with patterns, alternate colours or combine the slates with other materials to add personality to your home. The only limit is your imagination.

  • Alterna is the standard double-pressed, flat fibre-cement slate with straight edges. It is available in 12 different colours and 5 sizes: 40x27 cm, 40x40 cm, 45x32 cm, 60x32 cm, 60x40 cm.
  • Boronda has an ultra-smooth coating and rounded edges, which ensures a greatly improved drainage of water and dirt. Available in 3 sizes: 40x27 cm, 45x32 cm, 60x32 cm.
  • Finally, the New Stonit slate has a slate relief and broken edges and comes in 40x24 cm, 45x30 cm, 60x30 cm.

Also the coverage pattern determines the look and feel of your roof. You can opt for the traditional double cover pattern or Ashler pattern with larger slates. Or choose for the more playful Rhombus pattern, putting the slates diagonally in diamond style. Also Quattro (a checkerboard pattern of square slates) is gaining popularity, especially in more contemporary designs.

Did you know that you can also use the Cedral slates as facade cladding? This gives you access to even more style effects e.g. continue your roof on your wall. You can find tons of inspiration on the www.Cedral.world website.
