BES 6001 Explained

Martin Smithurst, technical manager UK for Cedral, said: “The BRE assessment recognises our programme of continual improvements to the way we source, manufacture and supply our products and services. Using products that are responsibly sourced allows specifiers to deliver projects that achieve a higher number of credits within the BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes certification schemes. The three credits gained through the use of our BRE ‘Green Guide to Specification’ generic A+ rated fibre cement slates, is now enhanced with the additional three points available for demonstrating a ‘Very Good’ rating for responsible sourcing.”

BES 6001 Explained

BES 6001 certification enables Cedral to demonstrate a responsible chain of custody as a manufacturer. Cedral’s own organisational management systems as well as those of its supply chain have been assessed. The manufacturer’s environmental and social impacts have also been reviewed where for example its efforts towards monitoring and reducing carbon emissions and reducing transports impacts have been noted.

Furthermore, Cedral’s responsible and sustainable employment policies and their involvement with local communities have also been recognised through this accolade.
